April 2023 Newsletter & Calendar

Greetings Lincoln Park Academy Families!

I hope that Spring Break allowed families to spend quality time with scholars at home. We are happy to be back. It’s that time of year….TESTING! Students in grades 3-8 will be taking the Ohio State Test beginning the week of April 4th. Call blasts, email reminders, letters in backpacks and our newsletters are coming your way as we partner with you to ensure a successful testing season.
Please take time to write your scholar(s) an encouraging letter. We are sending home testing information letters and with it is stationary you can use. I included an envelope for you to send your heart-filled letters of encouragement back to the school. Your scholar will be able to read your letter prior to taking their tests. It’s important that we show our hard-working students that we know “they can do it.” Send us your letters! -Desk

Character Word Spotlight: INTEGRITY

Here at school, we have been very busy learning about INTEGRITY– what it means and why it is important! Learning happens best when it is done both at school and at home. Below are many ways that you can help your child continue to learn about the theme of integrity through reading about it, talking about it, and practicing it!

READ ABOUT IT!

Here are some books to help you learn more about being INTEGRITY:

The Cloud Spinner by Michael Catchpool
Winners Take All by Fred Bowen
Mr. Peabody’s Apples by Madonna
Jamaica’s Find by Juanita Havill

PRACTICE IT!

Together with your child, practice doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Go to a grocery store and put all the carts in the correct place in the parking lot, look for things that are in the wrong spot in the store and put them where they belong, or leave kind notes on strangers’ cars.

TALK ABOUT IT!

What do you think INTEGRITY means and why is it important?
• What makes it hard to do the right thing?
• Tell me about a time when you chose to do the right thing, even though it was difficult.
• Tell me about a time when you were tempted to do something you knew wasn’t right.
• If you make a mistake, why can it be hard to own up to it?
